A DAY
AT CAMP

Swipe through to learn more about WHAT A TYPICAL DAY, SESSION, AND MINI SESSION LOOK LIKE AT CAMP MENDOCINO!

PACKING FOR CAMP

We have prepared a packing list to help you get your camper ready for Camp. We limit campers to two bags on the bus to ensure everyone can fit comfortably.

Camp Mendocino can fluctuate in temperature, so we highly suggest bringing layers. At Camp Mendocino, you will be outdoors running, jumping, hiking, and much more. Please bring clothes that you are willing to get dirty or worn out in. Camp Mendocino is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.

TRANSPORTATION

Camp is located approximately 4 hours from San Francisco, but don't worry! Transportation to and from Camp is provided for all campers.

Camp contracts charter buses to transport campers to and from Camp. These buses are equipped with restrooms, air conditioning, and luggage compartments. All drivers have been background checked and are certified to transport school-age children.

Specific Bus Departure and return times and locations will be sent via email to those enrolled, with balances paid and forms completed before the deadline.

VILLAGES

decorative line

Camp Mendocino is co-ed; boys are located on one side of Camp and girls are on the other. Age groups are separated into different “villages” and each village has four cabins located together with their own bathrooms and showers. Cabins have six bunk beds and are solid wood structures with canvas flaps covering windows and the door.

Each village has its own bathrooms and showers (individual stalls). Campers are required to shower daily, but showers are short in order to conserve water.

CAMP FOOD

Camp Mendocino and BGCSF has a health initiative & all campers receive three well-balanced meals per day. All meals are served with milk and water. If your child has special dietary requirements, please let us know ahead of time. We can most often make arrangements for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free diets. Everything for meals is prepared in the same kitchen, so for campers with very specific and severe dietary needs, please reach out to Camp staff ahead of time. We will be happy to talk through what we can accommodate.

At breakfast, campers can expect pancakes, french toast, waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, or breakfast burritos. We almost always have cereal and fruit on the side as well. At lunch and dinner, campers love spaghetti, fajitas, stir fry, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, hamburgers and more.

We know that sometimes camp food is different from the food some of our campers eat at home. At Camp Mendocino, we expect campers to give new things a try - and this includes at meals. We also offer seconds at every meal – we want campers to feel full and ready for the day!

COMMUNICATING
WITH MY CAMPER

Email

We don’t have cell phone service or wifi access to campers at Camp Mendocino. We do, however, have one-way email access in the office. Each day, emails are printed off and given to campers. We are excited to offer families the use of the Campanion app this year. Campanion creates a more seamless communication experience, allowing families to view letters from campers and send a reply, all within the mobile app. More details will be sent to you prior to your camper's session.

phone calls

If any family needs to contact the camp or their child because of a personal emergency, please call the Camp office at 707-459-6458. If no one is available to answer, we are likely away from the office. Please leave a message and we will respond as quickly as we can.
